What is a moon sign?
Your moon sign, or rashi, is the sign the Moon was in when you were born. Vedic astrology reads your horoscope from it, because the Moon shapes the mind and moods. The Moon moves through a sign in about two and a half days, so your date and place of birth matter most.
Why is it different from my sun sign?
Western horoscopes use your sun sign in the tropical zodiac. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is about 24 degrees behind, and reads from the Moon. Most people find their rashi is not the sign they know from magazines.
